About Us

Redefining Faithful Publishing

Mustard Seed Publishing was created for writers and organisations who sense that their words are part of something bigger than a single moment. We believe publishing should do more than put ink on paper; it should protect precious stories, deepen faith and give communities language for what God is already doing among them.

Rooted in KwaZulu-Natal and connected to readers across Southern Africa, we focus on faith-centred and inspirational books with a strong community heartbeat. Our team brings experience from education, media, campaigns and community work, helping authors turn lived experience, sermons, testimonies and insights into clear, compelling books that can travel far beyond one church, event or project.

The Thinking Behind Our Publishing

Mustard Seed & the Kairos Media Engine

Mustard Seed Publishing is part of the wider Kairos Media Group – a communications and learning engine that supports campaigns, education projects, social impact work and organisational change. This means our books are never developed in isolation. They are shaped with a view to real readers, real ministries and real communities: how a title will be used in small groups, trainings, heritage projects, donor reports or community storytelling.

For our authors and partners, that means:

1. Projects aligned to real outcomes – not vanity publishing or abstract theory
2. Manuscripts developed into tools that can support teaching, reflection and community engagement
3. Books that can link to communication, reporting and outreach work already under way
4. Confidence that your message sits inside a bigger story, not on a separate, disconnected track

DR BRIAN NAIDOO
Founder and CEO

Dr Brian Naidoo is the CEO of Mustard Seed Publishing and a co-leader within the wider Kairos Media Group. A leadership coach, educator and communication strategist, he has spent his career helping organisations clarify their message, navigate change and turn deep convictions into practical action on the ground.

Over many years of working with churches, NGOs, campaigns and community projects, Brian saw how often powerful testimonies and insights remained trapped in notes, reports or private conversations. Mustard Seed Publishing was born out of his conviction that these stories deserve a more permanent home – in books, devotionals and resources that can strengthen faith and memory across generations.

Drawing on experience in education, public service, civil society and media, Brian brings both theological sensitivity and communication craft to the publishing process. He is passionate about books that are honest, context-aware and beautifully made, helping authors carry their message with integrity from first draft to finished copy.

The future of faith publishing is not in chasing more titles, but in honouring the stories God is already writing. When conviction, craft and community meet, a book becomes more than a product – it becomes a companion on someone’s journey.

Our Commitment

Publishing Built for Faith and Integrity

At Mustard Seed Publishing, our commitment is simple: honour the message, respect the author and serve the reader. Whether we are working with a first-time writer or an experienced organisation, we pay attention to context, language and design so that every book feels trustworthy and accessible. From devotional titles and testimonies to community histories and project narratives, we combine local insight with careful craft to help each project bear fruit long after the first print run is finished.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

We know that choosing a publishing partner is about more than paper and printing. It is about trust, process and shared values. Here are some of the most common questions authors and organisations ask when they first meet Mustard Seed Publishing:

No. Many of our authors are pastors or ministry leaders, but we also work with teachers, community organisers, NGO teams and individuals who have a strong faith-informed story to tell. What matters most is that your project aligns with our values of hope, dignity, honesty and spiritual depth.

We can come in at different stages. Ideally, you will have a substantial first draft, a full set of structured notes or a clear chapter outline so we can see your overall message. During our early conversations we will give feedback on what is needed next – additional writing, re-organisation, editing or design – before moving towards print.

We manage editing, design, layout and print coordination as part of one integrated process. Through our close partnership with Kairos Communications, we can advise on formats, paper, finishes and quantities, and oversee the print run for you. You remain part of every key decision, but you do not have to juggle multiple suppliers on your own.
